To schedule a surgery, we first need to have established care of your pet with a Doctor exam. Meeting the Doctor and performing a physical exam also helps us assess and discuss surgical needs and expectations, anesthetic considerations and other testing or procedures that might be needed.

Our Veterinary Nurses will then contact you to schedule surgery and go over our pre-operative information.
On the Day
When you arrive at MiVet Animal Clinic at your scheduled drop off time between 8:00am & 9:00am, you will meet with a Veterinary Nurse to go over the necessary paperwork & answer any questions you may have.
Your pet's Nurse will get them settled into a doggy/kitty/bunny condo (or appropriate exotic enclosure). They will have free access to water and will be monitored closely by our Animal Care Team to ensure your pet is happy & comfortable while awaiting their procedure.

Any necessary pre-anesthetic blood work will be obtained & ran in our in house lab if it has not been completed prior.
We want your pet to be as happy and comfortable as possible. If your pet appears to be stressed during their stay, we may administer an anxiolytic and/or analgesic medication with your permission.
The doctor will complete a full comprehensive exam on your pet and evaluate all records to ensure there are no additional considerations prior to their anesthetic procedure.
We will likely have multiple procedures scheduled on the day of your surgery. Your veterinary care team will create the order of procedures based on their anesthetic and recovery risk assessment, and the type of surgery they are having.
When the procedure is complete your veterinary care team will contact you to schedule a discharge time, this is typically between 4:00pm & 6:00pm. If this timeline does not work, please let our team know ahead of time.

At your discharge appointment, we will go over the procedure outcome and at home post-op instructions in as much detail as you need.

If you have any questions or concerns about the care plan for your pet please let us know! Please know that we pride ourselves on caring for every patient as though they are our own pets.
